HSZZ Airspace Closure
11th April 2019
Sudan has closed its airspace today, following a take over of power by the military, who have issued a statement on TV saying that they have removed the country’s longtime President Omar al-Bashir. This comes after months of on-and-off protests against his rule. The military say the airspace closure will last at least 24 hours. They have declared a three month state of emergency, and have deployed soldiers to secure key sites around Khartoum, with armoured vehicles and tanks parked in the streets.
