Flightworx are proud supporters of Orbis - The Flying Eye Hospital
13th March 2017
Orbis is an international charity that transforms lives by preventing and treating avoidable blindness and visual impairment. They work in countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America training eye care teams, strengthening hospitals, screening for and treating eye diseases and educating local communities in eye health.
The Flying Eye Hospital
The Flying Eye Hospital spearheads Orbis’s global efforts to improve and expand eye care. It’s the world’s only teaching eye hospital with wings.
A modified MD-10, donated by FedEx, puts equipment, medical supplies, a state-of-the-art surgical suite and classroom on the ground virtually anywhere in the world.
The MD-10 is the third generation eye hospital since 1983.
The plane’s visit to the UK is rare (it was last in London in 2009)
